UAE Court Orders Man to Pay Dh26,000 for Punching Friend
In a surprising incident in the UAE, a man’s punch to his friend’s face has cost him Dh26,000 (around 2 million Pakistani rupees). The Abu Dhabi Family, Civil, and Administrative Court has ordered an Asian man to pay his friend compensation for physical assault and damaging his mobile phone.
According to Al Emarat Al Youm, the altercation took place between two friends, during which the defendant punched his friend in the face and damaged his mobile phone, which was valued at Dh4,599.
The victim filed a lawsuit, claiming not only the damage to his phone but also physical harm, as he was unable to work for 20 days due to his injuries. The victim demanded Dh20,000 in compensation for the emotional and financial distress caused by the incident.
After reviewing the evidence and statements, the court found the defendant guilty of assault and ordered him to pay Dh20,000 for the damages and an additional Dh6,000 as a fine. The court also directed the defendant to cover legal fees, including the lawyer’s charges.
