ICC DELEGATION INSPECTS KARACHI’S NATIONAL STADIUM AHEAD OF CHAMPIONS TROPHY 2025

A high-level International Cricket Council (ICC) delegation visited Karachi’s National Stadium yesterday to assess preparations for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

The team, which arrived in Karachi on Tuesday night, conducted a thorough inspection of the ongoing construction work and evaluated the venue’s readiness to host the prestigious tournament.

As part of their evaluation process, the ICC delegation will also visit Islamabad and Lahore to review the Gaddafi Stadium and Rawalpindi International Cricket Stadium, respectively.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has allocated a whopping Rs 12.80 billion for the upgradation of the three venues, slated to host the Champions Trophy from February 19 to March 9, 2025.

GROUPINGS ANNOUNCED

The ICC has announced the groupings for the tournament, with Pakistan, India, New Zealand, and Bangladesh comprising Group A, while Australia, England, Afghanistan, and South Africa make up Group B.

However, India’s participation remains uncertain, pending approval from the Indian government.

PCB ASSURES SMOOTH HOSTING

Despite the uncertainty surrounding India’s participation, the PCB has reaffirmed its commitment to hosting the tournament as scheduled.

The ICC delegation’s report will play a crucial role in finalizing the tournament schedule and arrangements.
