Wheel Jam Strike in Baluchistan Against Student’s Abduction, Educational Institutions to Remain Closed
QUETTA, Nov 24 – A wheel jam strike has been observed today in Baluchistan, protest against the abduction of an 11-year-old student, Musawar Kakar, who was kidnapped on November 15. The strike has been supported by political parties and traders’ organizations, and as a result, all schools, colleges, and universities in the region also closed.
According to the Balochistan Education Department, educational institutions will remain shut due to the strike.
The child, Musawar Kakar, was abducted by unidentified individuals on November 15 while returning home from school in the Patel Bagh area. His family has vowed to continue protesting until he is safely returned.
Earlier, on November 19, a complete strike was observed in Quetta, with local businesses and political parties showing solidarity with the family. The strike was called by the Dharna Committee and traders’ associations after authorities failed to locate the missing student. During the strike, all major markets, shopping malls, and business centers in the city were closed, and strict security measures were imposed at entry and exit points, with regular checks on vehicles and pedestrians.
The student’s father, Haji Raz Muhammad, expressed his frustration in a statement to the Balochistan High Court, stating that five days had passed since his son was abducted, and there was still no information on his whereabouts. He appealed to the Chief of Army Staff for intervention to ensure his son’s safe return.
Raz Muhammad also thanked the public for their support and rejected rumors of any contact with the abductors. He stated that the future course of action would be decided by the Dharna Committee.
