Uttar Pradesh’s Wolf Nightmare: 7 Children, 1 Woman Killed, 4 Wolves Caught
ferocious man-eating wolf, responsible for the deaths of seven children and a woman, has been caught in the Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh. The wolf’s reign of terror had left 35 villages in a state of fear, with residents forced to stay awake all night to protect their families.
A 25-member team from the forest department, aided by drones equipped with thermal mapping software, tracked and sedated the wolf in a flooded area of Sesaya village. The captured wolf is part of a pack of six killer wolves roaming in Bahraich.
The forest department has advised villagers to stay safe and has deployed 150 employees and 200 security personnel to mitigate the situation. Four wolves have been caught so far, with the search ongoing for the remaining two.
The attacks, which began on July 17, have left over 50,000 people in fear, with more than 50 managing to escape the clutches of the wolves. Authorities have installed loudspeakers and floodlights to deter the animals and plan to use elephant dung to keep wolf packs away from residential areas.
The rare wolf attacks have been attributed to the wolves acquiring a taste for human flesh, with heavy monsoon rains and floods forcing them to venture into human settlements in search of food.
