US Secretary of State Calls for End to War and Humanitarian Access in Gaza
Dubai, UAE – US Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated on Wednesday that Israel has achieved its military objectives in Gaza and it is now time to focus on ending the ongoing war. He emphasized that bringing the conflict to a close would be the best way to address the urgent humanitarian needs of Gaza’s civilian population.
Blinken called for “real and extended pauses” in fighting to allow for the delivery of essential humanitarian aid to those affected by the violence. He also reiterated that Israel has a responsibility to facilitate this aid and that efforts must continue to address the growing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
In his remarks, Blinken urged the international community to apply increased pressure on Hamas, calling for “genuine, sustained, and effective pressure” to end hostilities. He stressed that achieving peace would require cooperation from all parties involved, with humanitarian access being a key priority.
This marks a continuation of the US government’s stance on seeking a de-escalation of the conflict and prioritizing humanitarian relief while pushing for a broader resolution to the crisis in Gaza.
