US Regulator Moves to Place Google Under Federal Supervision
Nov 14 – The U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) is reportedly seeking to place Google under formal federal supervision, potentially adding to the regulatory challenges facing the tech giant.
According to a report by the Washington Post, Google has opposed the move during months of confidential discussions. If implemented, federal supervision would give regulators access to Google’s internal records, allowing for closer scrutiny of its operations.
This action marks a new effort by U.S. regulators to increase oversight of major tech companies, particularly as concerns grow over their market dominance and business practices.
