US Judge Restores Voting Rights Ahead of Election in Virginia
A federal judge has ordered Virginia to reinstate about 1,600 voters who were removed from the state’s voter rolls. This decision comes just before Election Day.
Judge Patricia Giles found that the removals were done in a systematic way, which violates federal law. She noted that eligible voters were mistakenly flagged and removed.
While the judge agreed that it’s important to remove ineligible voters, she emphasized that states must also follow federal voting laws. The ruling will help ensure these voters can participate in the upcoming election.
