U.S. Imposes Sanctions on Russia’s Gazprombank Amid Ukraine Conflict
WASHINGTON, Nov 21– The United States imposed new sanctions on Russia’s Gazprombank on Thursday, effectively blocking its access to the U.S. banking system. The move, announced by the Treasury Department, bans Gazprombank from trading with Americans and freezes its U.S. assets.
This action is part of President Joe Biden’s efforts to ramp up pressure on Moscow for its ongoing invasion of Ukraine, ahead of his departure from office in January.
