Trump Wins Arizona, Completes Sweep of Swing States
WASHINGTON (November 10, 2024) – Donald Trump has won Arizona, completing a sweep of all seven key swing states in the 2024 U.S. presidential election. CNN and NBC confirmed that Trump secured Arizona’s 11 electoral votes, defeating Vice President Kamala Harris.
Arizona was a crucial state in 2020, when Joe Biden narrowly won it, but Trump flipped it back to the Republicans in this election. Along with Arizona, Trump also won in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, North Carolina, Nevada, and Georgia, ensuring his victory.
Trump’s strong performance has surprised many, as he not only won the election but also claimed the popular vote by a margin of about four million votes. His victories in these swing states helped the Republican Party regain control of the Senate and strengthen their position in the House of Representatives.
Trump’s success was largely driven by support from working-class white voters and a growing share of the Hispanic vote.
President Joe Biden, who will leave office after one term, has agreed to meet with Trump at the White House on Wednesday for a traditional handover of power. Despite the bitter rivalry, this meeting is a customary part of the transition process.
Trump, who faced two impeachments and criminal charges during his first term, has made a powerful return to the presidency. His tough stance on economic issues, particularly inflation, resonated with many voters dissatisfied with Biden’s handling of the economy.
Biden, who had concerns about his age and health, called Trump to congratulate him on the win.
