Trump Appoints Rep. Elise Stefanik as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations
New York, USA – President-elect Donald Trump has named Rep. Elise Stefanik to serve as his Ambassador to the United Nations, a significant appointment that will require Senate confirmation. Stefanik, a 40-year-old Republican from New York, is known for her strong support of Trump and her position as the House Republican Conference Chair.
Trump praised Stefanik in a statement, calling her an “incredibly strong, tough, and smart America First fighter.” He added that she would be a formidable representative for the U.S. at the UN. Stefanik has long been a loyal ally of Trump and was previously considered as a potential vice presidential candidate.
Born and raised in upstate New York, Stefanik graduated from Harvard University and worked in the White House under President George W. Bush, where she was involved with the Domestic Policy Council and the Chief of Staff’s office.
Stefanik’s appointment marks Trump’s first official selection that will require Senate confirmation, and her nomination is expected to draw attention due to her limited foreign policy experience.
