The Guardian Leaves X Over Racism and Conspiracy Theories

Nov 13 (Reuters) – The Guardian, a major British newspaper, said on Wednesday it will stop posting on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. The decision was made due to “disturbing content” on the platform, including racism and conspiracy theories.

The Guardian, which has 10.7 million followers on X, is the first major UK media company to quit since Elon Musk bought the platform in 2022. Critics have said Musk’s approach has allowed harmful content like hate speech and false information to spread.

The Guardian explained its decision, saying the negatives of being on X now outweigh the benefits and that its resources could be better used elsewhere to promote its journalism.

In response, Musk dismissed the move, calling the Guardian “irrelevant” on X.
