Sri Lanka Claims Title at Hong Kong World Super Sixes, Defeats Pakistan in Final
In the final of the Hong Kong World Super Sixes Tournament, Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan to claim the title for the second time. The match took place at Mong Kok, where Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bat first.
Pakistan faced an early setback, losing two wickets quickly in the initial overs. Muhammad Ikhlaq was the standout performer for Pakistan, scoring 48 runs. However, other batsmen struggled against the Sri Lankan bowlers, with captain Faheem Ashraf contributing 13 runs, Aamer Yamin scoring 6, Asif Ali going for a duck, and Hussain Talat managing just 1 run. As a result, the entire Pakistani team was bowled out for 72 runs in the allotted 6 overs.
For Sri Lanka, Dhananjaya de Silva and Tharindu Ratnayake took 2 wickets each, helping restrict Pakistan’s scoring.
Chasing the target, Sri Lanka started cautiously but managed to secure the win with one over remaining, reaching 73 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. Sandun Weerakkody was the top scorer for Sri Lanka with 34 runs, followed by Dhananjaya de Silva with 2 runs and captain Lahiru Madhushanka contributing 19 runs. Faheem Ashraf stood out for Pakistan with 2 wickets in the match.
With this victory, Sri Lanka solidified their position as a strong contender in the tournament.
