Solar Power Gets Cheaper: Prices Drop to Rs 28 Per Watt

The cost of solar panels in Pakistan has dropped significantly, with prices now at Rs 28 per watt, down from previous rates . This decrease is largely driven by the increasing demand for solar energy due to rising electricity prices in the country. In fact, Pakistan imported a whopping 8,000 megawatts of solar panels in just one year .

The Sindh government is also promoting the use of solar energy, with Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah welcoming an exhibition on alternative energy in Karachi. As part of this initiative, a solar package with battery backup is being offered to consumers using 200 units or less, with some packages available for free and others at a nominal cost.
