Snow Falls in Saudi Arabia’s Al-Jouf Desert for the First Time in History

Rare Snowfall Turns Desert into a Winter Wonderland

For the first time ever, snow has fallen in the Al-Jouf desert of Saudi Arabia, surprising everyone as the normally dry and hot region was covered in snow. This rare event has transformed the desert into a winter scene, with snow covering the sand dunes.

According to the UAE’s National Center of Meteorology, the snowfall was caused by a drop in temperature due to a low-pressure system in the Arabian Sea. This is especially surprising because temperatures in the region can reach as high as 55°C (131°F), making cold weather like this extremely unusual.

Along with the snow, the cold front brought rain, hail, and thunderstorms to both Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The unexpected weather has captured attention, with people sharing images of the snowy desert on social media.

This rare snowfall is a reminder of how even the hottest places can experience surprising weather changes.
