Shakib Al Hasan Hit with 50 Lakh Taka Fine for Securities Violation
Shakib Al Hasan, the captain of Bangladesh’s cricket team, is facing multiple challenges. Recently, he was fined 50 lakh taka by the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission for allegedly manipulating share prices . This isn’t the only issue he’s dealing with – there’s also a murder case pending against him, filed by the father of a garment factory worker who died during protests in Dhaka on August 23 .
It’s worth noting that Shakib was a member of Parliament in the government of Sheikh Hasina Wajid and contested elections on the Awami League ticket. However, when the government dissolved, he lost his position as a lawmaker .
Despite these controversies, Shakib has continued to play cricket. In fact, he was permitted by the interim government to participate in the Pakistan series . His teammates have also shown support for him, with captain Najmul Hossain Shanto stating that the allegations against Shakib are unexpected .
