Russia Warns U.S. Missile Base in Poland Increases Nuclear Danger
MOSCOW – Russia has criticized the opening of a new U.S. missile defense base in northern Poland, warning that it raises the risk of nuclear conflict. The base, located in Redzikowo near the Baltic coast, is part of NATO’s missile defense system and was officially activated on November 13.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called the move “provocative” and said it could destabilize the region. She also stated that the base is now a target for potential destruction if necessary.
This new U.S. base adds to growing tensions between Russia and NATO, especially amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Russia sees NATO’s presence near its borders as a direct security threat, increasing fears of a broader military escalation.
