Russia Fines Google $20 Decillion, Surpassing All Global Wealth
A Russian court has fined Google a staggering $20 decillion, a number far beyond the entire global economy, after the tech giant restricted access to Russian state-affiliated TV channels on YouTube, citing international sanctions. The claim involves 17 pro-Kremlin media outlets, including Russia 1 and Tsargrad TV.
The fine, which reportedly doubles weekly since 2020, has now reached a 36-digit figure, dwarfing Google’s total revenue and market value. Russia-based legal sources have said the fine in rubles exceeds 2 undecillion.
Despite the enormous penalty, Google appears unfazed, with the company stating it doesn’t expect this case to have a “material adverse effect.” Google ceased Russian operations in 2022 after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, though its services like YouTube remain accessible.
