Putin Open to Trump-Led Ukraine Ceasefire, But Rejects Territorial Concessions
Russian President Vladimir Putin is willing to discuss a ceasefire in Ukraine with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, according to sources familiar with Kremlin discussions. However, Putin rules out any significant territorial concessions and demands that Ukraine abandon its NATO ambitions as part of any peace deal.
With Russia making significant territorial gains in Ukraine, including controlling an area roughly the size of Virginia, Putin’s position comes as Trump prepares to return to the White House, promising to end the conflict swiftly. The Russian advances are the fastest since the early stages of the 2022 invasion.
