Punjab Revamps Education Sector with Female-Friendly Policies
The Higher Education Department of Punjab has taken significant steps to ensure the safety and protection of female students across the province. New guidelines have been issued, directing that only female staff should be appointed in girls’ colleges, educational institutions, and hostels
Key Guidelines:
- Female-Only Staff: Only female staff should be appointed in girls’ colleges, educational institutions, and hostels.
- CCTV Monitoring: If male staff must be appointed in exceptional cases, the area should be monitored with CCTV cameras.
- Officer Oversight: An officer should monitor the CCTV cameras, and video footage data should be kept for 30 days.
- Dark Place Monitoring: Monitoring of dark places is ensured to avoid any untoward incidents and protect students.
These guidelines aim to create a safe and secure environment for female students, and educational institutions are expected to comply with these directives. The department has sent letters to vice-chancellors, directors, and principals of all universities, colleges, and educational institutions, both public and private, to ensure implementation.
