Popular Instagram Squirrel “Pent” Killed for Rabies Testing in New York
A well-known squirrel in New York, named “Pent,” was euthanized by authorities for rabies testing. Pent had gained fame on Instagram, with over 537,000 followers who loved watching its videos.
The squirrel’s owner, Longo, was upset about the decision, explaining that Pent had been part of his life for seven years. He often posted videos of the squirrel, which contributed to its popularity.
Authorities stated that Pent was kept illegally as a pet and had bitten a public official, raising concerns about rabies. To ensure safety, they decided to euthanize the squirrel for testing.
