PCB Rejects Hybrid Model for Champions Trophy 2025 Amid India’s Refusal to Tour Pakistan

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has dismissed the possibility of a hybrid model for hosting the Champions Trophy 2025 after India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan. Citing government directives, the PCB conveyed its concerns to the International Cricket Council (ICC), emphasizing the Pakistani government’s firm stance on hosting the event solely within Pakistan.

In a letter to the ICC, the PCB requested clarification on India’s refusal and sought a detailed explanation. The board also firmly rejected the idea of a hybrid model, stating that if India does not play in Pakistan, Pakistan will not participate in any matches against India at alternate venues.

On November 9, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) reportedly informed the ICC that the Indian government advised against sending the team to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025 due to political tensions. Notably, India has not toured Pakistan since the 2008 Asia Cup, while Pakistan has traveled to India four times over the past 16 years, with the most recent visit for the ICC Men’s World Cup in 2023.
