Pakistan to Host 2025 Champions Trophy, ICC Releases Promotional Video
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released a promotional video for the 2025 Champions Trophy, which will be held in Pakistan for the first time in years. The video features iconic landmarks of Lahore, including the historic Delhi Gate, and celebrates the country’s vibrant truck art. It also highlights Pakistan’s 2017 Champions Trophy victory, led by Sarfaraz Ahmed.
However, the official schedule for the tournament has been delayed due to India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan. The situation has caused a hold-up in the announcement, and the ICC may face legal challenges if the schedule isn’t revealed soon.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently sent a letter to the ICC, informing them of the government’s strong stance on India’s refusal to play in Pakistan. Despite the delay, Pakistan is set to host the tournament from February 19 to March 19, 2025, across three major cities—Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi.
This will be the first time since 2008 that Pakistan will host a major ICC event, with the country hoping for a successful Champions Trophy after winning the 2017 edition as defending champions.
