Pakistan Petroleum Limited Discovers New Oil and Gas Reserves in Sindh
Karachi: Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has announced the successful discovery of new oil and gas reserves in Sindh’s Sajawal district. The reserves, located at the Patiji X-1 well in the Shah Bandar Block, were reported to be a significant find in the country’s ongoing efforts to address its energy crisis.
According to a letter submitted by PPL to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the well is expected to produce approximately 1.17 million cubic feet of gas per day and 198 barrels of oil daily. The discovery was made after drilling the well to a depth of 2,475 meters on October 11.
PPL, which holds a 63% stake in the well, stated that this discovery would help to reduce Pakistan’s reliance on imported energy resources and contribute to meeting domestic energy demand. The company also highlighted that the newly found reserves could provide a boost to the country’s energy security and support efforts to mitigate the ongoing energy shortage.
The discovery is a positive development for Pakistan’s energy sector, which has been grappling with a growing energy deficit due to rising demand and limited local production.
