Pakistan Levels ODI Series Against Australia with 9-Wicket Victory in Second Match
Adelaide, November 8, 2024: Pakistan bounced back in style to level the three-match ODI series against Australia at 1-1, thanks to a convincing 9-wicket win in the second match at Adelaide Oval.
After winning the toss and opting to field, Pakistan’s bowlers put on an impressive show. Australia struggled throughout their innings, managing just 163 runs in 35 overs. Fast bowler Haris Rauf was the star with the ball, taking 5 wickets, while Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Hasnain, and Naseem Shah also chipped in with key wickets.
Chasing 164 to win, Pakistan made light work of the target. Opening batsman Saim Ayub scored a solid 82 runs off 71 balls, and Abdullah Shafique remained unbeaten on 64 as Pakistan reached the target in just 26.3 overs with only 1 wicket down. Captain Babar Azam was also not out on 15 runs at the end.
Haris Rauf was named Player of the Match for his outstanding bowling performance.
Australia made one change to their lineup, bringing in Josh Hazlewood for Shaun Abbott, while Pakistan stuck with the same team.
With the series now tied 1-1, the final ODI will be played on November 10. Both teams will also face off in a five-match T20I series starting November 14. Fans can expect more thrilling cricket as the action continues.
