Pakistan Hits Historic $4 Billion Mark in Rice Exports

Rice Exports Breakdown:
- Total Revenue: $4 billion
- Total Exported Rice: Over 6 million tons of various rice varieties
- Target for Next Fiscal Year: $5 billion
According to SIFC official Shahjehan Malik, Pakistan’s Basmati rice is highly prized in the international market due to its exceptional quality. To build on this success, the SIFC plans to develop a comprehensive strategy focusing on modern seed research and standardized agricultural practices .
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s overall exports have seen a significant boost, increasing by 10.54% to reach $30.64 billion. Meat and meat product exports have also surged by 20%, reaching a record-high $512 million. The SIFC and Ministry of Commerce have played a key role in expanding meat exports to new markets in Jordan, Uzbekistan, Lebanon, and Egypt.
Global Rice Market Context:
India’s recent decision to allow non-basmati white rice exports is expected to boost global supplies and lower international prices . This move could potentially impact Pakistan’s rice exports, but the country’s high-quality Basmati rice is likely to remain in demand.
