Ongoing Conflicts: Israeli Soldier Casualties Rise Amid Gaza and Lebanon Fighting
Jerusalem, Israel – The Israeli army has confirmed the deaths of two soldiers during clashes with Hamas in the northern Gaza Strip, while a major has died from injuries sustained in a separate confrontation with Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.
The soldiers killed in Gaza have been identified as 20-year-old Ofir Berkovich and 19-year-old Elisha Young, both part of an army brigade conducting military operations. Their deaths raise the total number of Israeli soldiers killed in the conflict with Hamas to 357, which includes a police officer involved in a hostage rescue and a defense ministry contractor.
In the clash with Hezbollah, Major Yishai Nathaniel Greenbaum, 38, succumbed to injuries he sustained last week. He was injured during a skirmish, where Sergeant Major (retd) Ronnie Ganizet was killed on the spot.
Since the resurgence of conflict in southern Lebanon at the end of September, 43 Israeli soldiers have lost their lives in clashes with Hezbollah. Additionally, two soldiers were killed in drone attacks attributed to Iraq and Syria, though there have been no further casualties reported from these recent incidents.
