One Lebanese Soldier Killed, 18 Injured in Israeli Airstrike on Military Facility

Beirut, Lebanon – November 24, 2024: At least one Lebanese soldier was killed and 18 others, some critically injured, in an Israeli airstrike that targeted a military facility in southern Lebanon. The attack took place in the town of Al-Amiriya, located on the Al-Qalila-Tyre road.

The Lebanese army confirmed the casualties and reported significant damage to the military center. While the Israeli military has not yet commented on the strike, Lebanon’s caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati condemned the attack, describing it as a “direct and bloody message” from Israel. Mikati also criticized the strike as an act rejecting efforts to secure a ceasefire, strengthen the Lebanese army’s presence in the south, and implement U.N. resolution 1701.

The incident marks a significant escalation in tensions in the region as diplomatic efforts continue to seek a peaceful resolution to ongoing hostilities.
