Odesa Faces Power Outages After Massive Russian Missile Strike
Kyiv, Nov 18 – Ukrainians in the Black Sea port city of Odesa have been without power for 24 hours following a massive Russian missile strike over the weekend that damaged key energy infrastructure.
The attack, which occurred on Sunday, was Russia’s largest missile assault on Ukraine in nearly three months and killed seven people. Odesa and its surrounding districts have been hit particularly hard, with local power distributor DTEK reporting that it is still not technically possible to restore electricity to critical infrastructure in parts of the city.
The Odesa region has been a frequent target of Russian missile attacks, which have crippled both port and energy facilities. Last year, similar strikes left the city without power for days and triggered energy use restrictions during the harsh winter. Further power cuts are expected across Ukraine as the damage to the energy grid deepens.(Reuters)
