Nawaz Sharif: “Pakistan Could Have Been an Asian Tiger if My Government Hadn’t Been Ousted”

London – 13 November 2024: Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif claimed that if his government had not been removed from power, Pakistan would have become an “Asian Tiger” by now, with a much stronger economy and no issues like unemployment or terrorism.

Speaking at a PML-N convention in London, Nawaz Sharif said that whenever his party has been in power, the country has seen progress. He blamed those who decided to oust his government for Pakistan’s current struggles, adding, “If we had been allowed to continue, Pakistan would have been part of the G20 today.”

Nawaz Sharif also criticized the country’s judiciary, particularly retired judges, for interfering in politics and making decisions that hurt the nation’s development. He pointed out that he was removed from the party leadership and disqualified from politics for life, which he said disrupted the country’s growth.

He praised his brother, Shehbaz Sharif, for trying to improve the situation, but also accused certain people of putting personal interests ahead of the country’s future.

The event was attended by key PML-N leaders, including Maryam Nawaz, Khawaja Asif, and Ahsan Iqbal.
