Multiple Airstrikes Reported in Houthi-Controlled Areas of Yemen
January 10, 2025 – Reports of widespread airstrikes have emerged from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen, including critical locations such as the port of Ras Isa, the country’s main oil export terminal, according to UK-based security firm Ambrey.
Details of the Attacks
The Houthi-affiliated Al Masirah broadcaster reported:
- 12 airstrikes targeted the Harf Sufyan district in northern Amran province, approximately 50km (31 miles) from the capital, Sanaa.
- Six airstrikes struck the Hodeidah port on Yemen’s western coast.
The broadcaster, however, did not disclose details about potential casualties or infrastructure damage.
No Official Response
As of now, there has been no immediate response or acknowledgment from US or UK officials regarding their involvement in the reported airstrikes.
Strategic Context
The Houthi group, which has maintained control of Amran province since 2014, continues to be a focal point in Yemen’s prolonged conflict. The port of Ras Isa, being a vital oil export terminal, is strategically significant in the ongoing hostilities.
This escalation follows years of intermittent violence between the Saudi-led coalition, which includes US and UK support, and Houthi forces, further complicating efforts toward peace in the war-torn region.
Ongoing Monitoring
Details about the extent of the damage and casualties remain unclear, but the attacks highlight the fragile security situation in Yemen and the continued risks to civilian and commercial infrastructure. Further updates are expected as the situation develops.
