Lebanon Pushes for Faster Israeli Pull-Out in Ceasefire Talks
Lebanon is pushing for modifications to a U.S. ceasefire proposal to ensure a quicker withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon and to secure the right for both sides to self-defend, according to a senior Lebanese official.
These requests were made during discussions in Beirut this week with U.S. mediator Amos Hochstein, who is working towards negotiating an end to the ongoing conflict between Hezbollah and Israel. The Biden administration is seeking a resolution to the war before the end of its term.
