Kuwait’s Prime Minister Warns of Global Repercussions from Trump’s Economic Decisions

Dubai, February 11, 2025 – Kuwait’s Prime Minister, Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah, issued a strong warning at the World Governments Summit in Dubai on Tuesday, cautioning that the economic decisions of US President Donald Trump could have far-reaching consequences for the entire world.

In a departure from his planned speech, the prime minister addressed the audience about the global economic situation, acknowledging the insights shared by Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), regarding the direction of the global economy and artificial intelligence. However, Sheikh Ahmad also expressed concerns about Trump’s recent actions.

“I need to ask you all to be very attentive to Trump’s decisions. He seems to be only looking for his own benefits, which will affect the whole world, and there will be repercussions,” said Sheikh Ahmad.

The warning comes after Trump’s recent decision to increase tariffs on steel and aluminum imports to a flat 25 percent, with no exceptions. The move aims to support struggling American industries but has raised fears of a global trade war. Furthermore, Trump has announced plans to impose reciprocal tariffs on countries that levy duties on US goods and is even considering additional tariffs on cars, semiconductors, and pharmaceuticals.

As the situation unfolds, the global community is closely watching how Trump’s economic policies could shape international trade dynamics.
