Israeli Airstrikes Kill 20 Palestinians in Gaza, Including Displaced Families

GAZA/CAIRO– Israeli military strikes across the Gaza Strip on Monday killed at least 20 Palestinians, including six who were sheltering in tents. Medics reported that four people, two of them children, died in an airstrike on a tent encampment in the Al-Mawasi area, which is designated as a humanitarian zone. Two others were killed in temporary shelters in the southern city of Rafah, and another person was killed by drone fire.

In Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza, an Israeli missile strike on a house killed at least two people and wounded several others. Over the weekend, airstrikes also targeted multi-floor residential buildings, resulting in numerous casualties.

The Israeli military stated that its strikes were targeting “terrorist” positions, as part of ongoing operations against Hamas militants, who have been engaged in conflict with Israel since October 2023.
