Israel Strikes Beirut Again as Ceasefire Talks Continue
BEIRUT/JERUSALEM, Nov 14 – Israeli forces have launched new strikes on Beirut as ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hezbollah intensify. A senior Lebanese official indicated that Hezbollah could withdraw its forces from the Lebanese-Israeli border as part of a potential ceasefire agreement. However, Lebanon rejected Israel’s demand for the right to act freely against Hezbollah within Lebanon in the future.
Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen stated that Israel is closer to reaching a ceasefire than it has been at any point since the conflict began. However, he emphasized that a key issue for Israel is ensuring it retains the freedom to act inside Lebanon if Hezbollah violates any agreement or poses a threat to Israel’s security. (By Reuters)
