Islamabad Police Arrests Bank Robbery Suspect, Killed During Firefight

According to Islamabad Police, a suspect involved in the armed robbery of a cash van in Pakistan’s capital was killed on Wednesday night after motorbike-riding assailants opened fire on a police team.

The police spokesperson stated that the team was transporting the suspect for evidence retrieval when three armed individuals on motorbikes attacked them near Golra Mor in the jurisdiction of Sumbal police station. The police officers, protected by bulletproof vests, remained unharmed, but the suspect sustained severe injuries.

The suspect was taken to the hospital for medical assistance but succumbed to his injuries.

This incident follows a recent high-profile cash van robbery outside a government bank in Islamabad’s G-9/4 sector, which resulted in two fatalities and left three others injured, who are currently receiving treatment at PIMS Hospital.

Earlier this week, Islamabad Police claimed to have arrested the suspect involved in last week’s bank robbery. The police also recovered stolen cash and the weapon used in the heist, which had been conducted with military precision as the robber arrived on a motorcycle, wielding an AK-47.
