Introducing Generation Beta: The Next Era of Humanity Begins in 2025

As the clock struck midnight on December 31, 2024, the world welcomed not only a new year but also the dawn of a new generation. Children born from January 1, 2025, through 2039 will be part of Generation Beta (Gen Beta) — a cohort set to explore new digital frontiers and possibly witness the next century.

What Defines Generation Beta?

According to Australian researcher Mark McCrindle, Gen Beta comprises the children of Millennials and Generation Z. By 2035, they are projected to represent at least 16% of the global population. Many members of this generation may live well into the 22nd century; a child born in 2025 could turn 76 by 2101.

Why “Generation Beta”?

The term follows the Greek alphabet, coming after Generation Alpha (2010–2024). It reflects a continuation in the naming convention while marking a shift into a more advanced digital and ecological era.

The Impact of Technology on Gen Beta

McCrindle predicts that for Gen Beta, digital and physical life will be seamlessly intertwined. Building on Gen Alpha’s familiarity with smart technology and artificial intelligence, Gen Beta will experience AI and automation in every aspect of life, from education and work to healthcare and entertainment.

However, this increasing digital integration comes with challenges. Gen Z parents are expected to be more cautious about screen time:

  • 36% of Gen Z parents strongly agree on the need to limit children’s screen time, compared to 30% of Millennial parents.

Addressing Climate and Environmental Pressures

Beyond technology, Generation Beta will face the daunting task of managing climate change, population shifts, and urbanization. Raised by environmentally conscious Millennials and Gen Z parents, Gen Beta is likely to prioritize sustainability and adaptability. According to Pew Research Center:

  • 71% of Millennials and 67% of Gen Z believe climate change must be a top priority to ensure Earth remains a sustainable planet.

What Comes After Gen Beta?

Following the current trend, the generation born after 2039 will likely be called Generation Gamma (Gen Gamma), representing those born between 2040 and 2054.

The Future is Beta

Generation Beta represents a fresh start, blending technological advancements with environmental consciousness. As they take their first steps into an interconnected world, Gen Beta will shape the future in ways we can only begin to imagine.
