Imran Khan Warns of Imminent Danger: Parochialism, Terrorism, and Economic Collapse
Former Prime Minister Imran Khan sounded the alarm on Friday, cautioning that Pakistan is on the precipice of parochialism amidst escalating political instability and terrorism, which has pushed the economy to the edge of collapse.
Addressing the media after attending court proceedings in the Toshakhana reference case, Khan expressed grave concerns about the country’s fragile state, citing the recent wave of terrorism and the government’s inability to tackle it effectively.
Khan emphasized that his party, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), is the only federal party capable of addressing this crisis, given its countrywide presence. He lamented that instead of uniting against the common threat, efforts are being made to weaken the PTI.
The former premier attributed the current political instability to the “rigged” February 8 election and slammed intelligence agencies for targeting his party. He vowed to reward those who stood firm with the PTI during difficult times, while warning that there is no room for those who deserted the party.
With the economy in shambles and terrorism on the rise, Khan stressed that investment is impossible in such an environment, making it the biggest challenge facing the nation.
