ICC Releases New Test Player Rankings: Babar Azam Falls, Salman Ali Agha Rises
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the latest rankings for Test players, bringing both setbacks and improvements for various cricketers.
In the Test batting rankings, England’s Joe Root retains his top spot, followed by New Zealand’s Kane Williamson in second. Harry Brook of England has moved up to third place, while India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal holds the fourth position. Babar Azam has seen a significant drop, falling four places to 19th. On the other hand, Salman Ali Agha has climbed eight places to secure the 14th spot.
In the Test bowling rankings, India’s Jasprit Bumrah remains at number one, with Ravichandran Ashwin in second. Australia’s Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins occupy the third and fourth spots, respectively. Notably, no Pakistani bowler features in the top 10 bowlers.
Meanwhile, in the Test all-rounders’ rankings, India’s Ravindra Jadeja holds onto the top position, followed by Ashwin in second. Shakib Al Hasan has improved one place, rising to third.
In other ranking updates, Sri Lanka’s Kamindu Mendis has moved up to 10th place, and England’s Ben Duckett climbed to 11th. Salman Ali Agha’s impressive rise continues as he now sits at 14th, while New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra has made a massive leap of 36 places to reach 18th.
