Human Rights Watch Accuses Israel of War Crimes Over Gaza Displacement

Human Rights Watch (HRW) has accused Israel of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity due to the forced displacement of Palestinians in Gaza. The organization stated that the displacement has been widespread, systematic, and part of a state policy, amounting to crimes against humanity.

Israel rejected the accusations, labeling HRW’s claims as “completely false and detached from reality.”

The report follows warnings from aid groups and international organizations about the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Since Israel’s invasion of Gaza last year, over 43,500 people have reportedly been killed, according to Gaza health authorities, and much of the region’s infrastructure has been destroyed.

HRW further warned that Israel’s actions could lead to permanent displacement in buffer zones and security corridors, describing this as “ethnic cleansing.” However, the Israeli military denies such intentions, and Foreign Minister Gideon Saar stated that displaced Palestinians would be allowed to return after the war.

The law of armed conflict prohibits the forced displacement of civilian populations unless absolutely necessary for their security or imperative military reasons.
