Houthi Group Claims Drone Attack on Israel’s Eilat Port
November 16, 2024: The Houthi group from Yemen has claimed responsibility for a drone attack on Israel’s Red Sea port city of Eilat. Yahya Saree, a spokesperson for the group, said the attack targeted a “vital” site in the port, and warned that more attacks would follow until the violence against Palestinians and the siege on Gaza are ended.
The Houthis, who are backed by Iran, have launched several similar attacks in the Red Sea in recent weeks, disrupting global shipping routes. These strikes have forced ships to avoid the Suez Canal, a key waterway for international trade.
Saree said the group’s actions are meant to show support for Palestinians in the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas. He added that the attacks would continue until there is an end to the conflict in Gaza and Lebanon.
The U.S. and U.K. have responded to these attacks with military strikes of their own, targeting Houthi positions in the region. While the damage in Eilat is still being assessed, this latest strike adds to growing concerns over safety and stability in the region.
Stay tuned for more updates.
