Hamas Refuses Captives Swap Deal Without End to Gaza Conflict
Hamas’s acting chief in Gaza, Khalil al-Hayya, declared that the militant group would not proceed with any captives-for-prisoners swap unless Israel halts its assault on Gaza.
In an interview with Al-Aqsa TV, al-Hayya confirmed that ongoing discussions with mediating countries are in place, but blamed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government for stalling the negotiations for political reasons. The statement signals a hard stance from Hamas as it calls for an immediate end to the conflict before considering any prisoner exchange.
