Google Calls for Better Protection of Fibre Optic Cables in Africa
CAPE TOWN, Nov 14 – Google’s Charles Murito, who handles government relations in Africa, has urged African governments to better protect fibre optic cables from attacks. He also suggested that countries should create uniform policies for laying down these cables to help improve technology infrastructure across the continent.
Murito wants fibre optic cables to be considered critical infrastructure, which would provide more security for the vital networks that connect Africa to the world.
