French Expert Urges Strict Measures to Tackle Smog in Lahore

Lahore, November 8, 2024 — French meteorologist Arck Duché has called for strict actions to reduce smog in Lahore, stressing that business centers should close after evening hours to help fight pollution. Duché suggested that this measure should be enforced year-round, encouraging people to rely on natural light in their daily lives.

He explained that bright artificial lighting in business areas dries up moisture in the air, worsening pollution. To address this, Duché recommended installing fountains in parks, busy intersections, and transport hubs to help reduce air dryness and heat. These fountains should run automatically every few hours, except during rain.

Duché emphasized that these actions would improve air quality and reduce pollution-related health issues. He urged that governments should take continuous action to maintain a clean environment, rather than waiting for the problem to become critical. Duché also pointed out that similar measures in other countries have successfully controlled smog and improved air quality.
