Former Canadian Soldier David Lawrie Reportedly Arrested by Taliban in Afghanistan

November 17 , 2024 – David Lawrie, a former Canadian soldier known as “Canadian Dave,” has reportedly been arrested by the Taliban in Afghanistan. He was detained shortly after landing in Kabul on Monday.

Lawrie, who runs a private security firm called Raven Ray Consulting Services, has been working in Afghanistan for years. Sources say the Taliban have imprisoned him, but his exact location is not yet known.

The Canadian government has confirmed they are aware of the situation and are providing consular assistance to his family.

Lawrie is also known for his work during the 2021 Kabul crisis, where he helped evacuate over 100 Afghan civilians after the Canadian embassy staff left the country.
