Florida Lawmakers in the Running for Top Foreign Relations Roles in Trump’s Administration
WASHINGTON, Nov 12 — Two Florida lawmakers, known for their tough stances on China, are reportedly being considered for senior foreign relations positions in the administration of President-elect Donald Trump, according to U.S. media reports.
Senator Marco Rubio, who has been a vocal critic of China’s policies, is expected to be named Secretary of State, although the appointment has not yet been confirmed, sources told CBS News. Rubio’s potential role would mark a key part of Trump’s foreign policy team.
Meanwhile, Michael Waltz, a military veteran and Florida Congressman, is said to be the frontrunner for the role of National Security Adviser, tasked with overseeing the nation’s security policies.
In addition, Kristi Noem, the Governor of South Dakota, is reportedly being considered for the position of Homeland Security Secretary, where she would be responsible for U.S. border security and disaster management.
