Fire Kills At Least 10 People in Spanish Retirement Home
VILLAFRANCA DE EBRO, Spain, Nov 15 – A devastating fire at a retirement home in northern Spain has claimed the lives of at least 10 people. The blaze broke out early Friday morning in one of the rooms of the Jardines de Villafranca residence in Villafranca de Ebro, a care home for elderly residents, including those with mental health issues.
According to Fernando Beltran, the Spanish government’s top official in the Aragon region, the fire started in one of the rooms. All the victims were elderly residents of the facility. Regional president Jorge Azcon confirmed the tragic loss, describing the victims as residents of the home. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire as emergency services continue their response.
