FIA Arrests Brother-in-Law of Greece Boat Tragedy Suspect

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has apprehended Anas Iqbal, the brother-in-law of Osman Jajja, the prime suspect in the Greece boat tragedy, from Kamoki.

Details of the Arrest
According to an FIA spokesperson, Anas Iqbal managed airport operations in Pakistan and has been taken into custody. The arrest is part of the ongoing investigation into the human smuggling network behind the tragedy.

Background
Osman Jajja, identified as the mastermind of the human trafficking racket responsible for the Greece boat tragedy, had previously escaped FIA custody due to negligence.

Sources reveal that Osman Jajja and his brother, Khurram Jajja, based in Libya, operated a human smuggling ring. Eleven days before the boat accident, Osman was arrested in Sialkot on charges of firing at rivals and was in Sialkot Jail at the time.

How Jajja Escaped
During the investigation into the boat tragedy, Osman Jajja’s involvement became evident. However, FIA officials relied on his prior arrest and failed to formally name him in the boat tragedy case or request the Sialkot police to hold him.
Upon learning about the incident, Jajja secured bail in the firing case and went into hiding.

FIA’s Response
FIA Director has confirmed that Osman Jajja has been placed on the Stop List to prevent him from fleeing the country. Additionally, the SHO and investigating officer responsible for the negligence have been issued show-cause notices.
