FBR Offers 20,000 PKR Reward for Reporting Fake Restaurant and Retail Receipts

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has introduced an incentive program to encourage citizens to report fake receipts issued by restaurants and retailers. The initiative aims to enhance transparency and strengthen compliance with tax laws across the retail and hospitality sectors. Under this scheme, individuals who report fake or unverified receipts will receive a cash reward of 20,000 PKR.

According to FBR officials, customers can use the “Tax Asaan” mobile app to verify the authenticity of a receipt by scanning its QR code. The app instantly confirms whether the receipt has been registered in FBR’s system. If the receipt fails verification, users can report it immediately. The app’s geo-tracking feature allows customers to report the fake receipt at the exact location where it was issued, helping the FBR to address non-compliance more effectively.

The FBR’s statement further outlines that the reporting process and eligibility criteria for rewards are available on their official website. This step is part of FBR’s ongoing efforts to curb tax evasion, encourage greater accountability among businesses, and ultimately increase tax revenue for the country.
