FAISALABAD READY FOR CRICKET SHOWDOWN: Champions ODI Cup Trophy Unveiled
The Champions ODI Cup trophy was unveiled at Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad, marking the beginning of the highly anticipated tournament. Captains of the five participating teams, including Mohammad Rizwan (Markhors), Mohammad Haris (Allied Bank Stallions), Shaheen Afridi (Lions), Saud Shakeel (Dolphins), and Shadab Khan (Panthers), attended the ceremony.
The tournament, featuring top players like Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan, Fakhr Zaman, and Naseem Shah, commences tomorrow at Iqbal Stadium. The opening match pits Mohammad Rizwan’s UMT Markhors against Shadab Khan’s Panthers.
The winning team will receive a prize of Rs 3 crore, while the runner-up will receive Rs 1.5 crore. Whiteball head coach Gary Christen will also be present during the tournament, which promises to be a competitive affair given the talent and balance of all teams.
Captains Rizwan and Shadab Khan emphasized the importance of consistency and teamwork in determining the winner. Shaheen Afridi, who returned to Faisalabad after eight years, expressed his excitement and appreciation for the supportive fans.
