Faisalabad Medical University Marks World Heart Day with Awareness Walk
To commemorate World Heart Day, the Pakistan Society of Internal Medicine and Faisalabad Medical University jointly organized an awareness walk on [Date]. The event aimed to educate the public about heart diseases and prevention strategies.
Led by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zafar Ali Chaudhry, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Amir Shaukat, Prof. Dr. Maqsood Ahmed, and Dr. Muhammad Irfan, the walk commenced from Faisalabad Medical University and concluded at Jail Road.
Participants carried banners and placards highlighting the risks and prevention methods for heart diseases. Addressing the gathering, Prof. Dr. Zafar Ali Chaudhry assured that Faisalabad’s hospitals are equipped to treat all types of heart diseases.
Dr. Muhammad Irfan emphasized that cardiovascular diseases claim approximately 17 million lives globally each year, primarily due to smoking, diabetes, hypertension, obesity, and excessive screen time.
Prof. Dr. Amir Shaukat stressed the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, including weight management and controlling blood pressure, to prevent heart diseases.
Prof. Dr. Maqsood Ahmed advised individuals above 40 experiencing chest or abdominal pain to consult a doctor immediately and undergo an electrocardiogram (ECG).
This initiative seeks to promote cardiovascular health awareness and encourage the community to adopt preventive measures.
